A fully catered, slack packing hiking trail through the forests and river valleys of the Garden Route, from the Garden of Eden near Knysna to the Keurbooms River and the rugged coastline of Plettenberg Bay.
From solo adventurers to families and friends of up to 12 hikers, our expert guides transform the trail into more than just a walk, weaving in stories of ecology, history, and culture while ensuring your safety every step of the way.

The hike incorporates leaf-covered single tracks below the forest canopy, to open fynbos trails, to river crossings and rock hopping along the river beds, and of course, some steepish climbs out of the valleys before tackling the iconic Robberg Peninsula.

From R14 500 per person sharing, your trip cost covers the whole trip from start to finish.
The experience is filled with surprises. Be it a welcoming G&T every afternoon, or wine and bubbles with home made cheeses, a game drive across plains teaming with animals, to home-made food, a good old SA braai with a glass of red wine or a hot chocolate by the fire after a steep climb out of a cool river bed.
Our lodges en route are charming farmhouse-style stays, each with its own character and individual room layout. Rooms are generally twin share, with queen-sized beds available in some rooms. Most rooms have private en suite bathrooms, and our final night is spent in a beautiful luxury private home between the sea and the mountains, the perfect place to reflect on your Camino.
Swimming pools and cosy fireplaces complete the experience at each venue.

The Plett Camino provides a safe trail hiking experience for both single lady or gent hikers, couples, families and hiking groups. Safety and enjoyment are essential, and trails are guided by qualified guides, supported by a team of staff and off-road vehicles.

We cater for all ages from early teens to people well into their late seventies, but only you know your fitness level. If you are happy with ±14kms a day, then this is the trail for you. There are no steep drop offs or ropes or chains en route and no river crossings where you are required to swim.

This is the real soul of the Plett Camino. The wildness of nature. Its resilience. Its surprises. And the little wonders and stories you only discover when you get out there and walk amongst it.
In May this year, the Keurbooms River came roaring through, leaving the landscape and parts of our trail forever changed. But amongst all that change, one thing stayed exactly where it was. 🌳💚
The only tree for miles to withstand the incredible force of the river, it stood its ground through floodwaters that reached close to the levels of the 100-year flood. And we think there’s something pretty special about that.

💚 There’s a whole lot of love behind every kilometre.
As you may know, back in May, an incredible storm swept across the Garden Route. The Keurbooms River came roaring through and the landscape, including parts of the Plett Camino trail, was forever changed.
So, our team got to work. 💪🥾 Clearing debris, repairing the river crossing and quite literally carving a brand-new pathway through to the foot of Postman James. 🌿
It’s the side of the Plett Camino you don’t always see, the muddy boots, hard work and many hands that go into making every day on the trail as incredible as possible. We love these trails, care for them and keep finding the best way forward. 💚
